| 1114640 | 2010-06-30 01:53:00 | Hey guys, building a PC on a tight budget (upto $700.00) So far I have the following: AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.9Ghz Processor Kingston DDR2-800 RAM (1x2GB) Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 Motherboard Thermaltake Xaser V 8000A E-ATX case Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD (16MB cache, 7200rpm) Silverstone Strider Essential 400W PSU (pretty sure it has modular cabeling) The total for this I've worked out to be about $630.00 Notes: Already have a monitor Already have a dvd burner already have a GS8400 1GB GPU Can anyone have a look, see if they could possibly do it for cheaper? Or suggest any upgrades/faults with what I have so far.. Cheers heaps 400w while good for now is a bit weak IMO!, I wouldnt get only 1 stick of RAM, what O/S will you run! edit - I would go for a Phemon II instead of the Athlon, I believe Phenom have disabled cores, which you maybe able to unlock, especially with the special gigabyte (think its this brand) motherboard |
