1114519 2010-06-29 09:14:00 Will be travelling to Buenos Aires (Argentina) for 2 weeks and need to stay accessible by mobile phone and email etc. I've already got USB dongles from Telecom and Vodafone NZ.

Does anyone know the best options for buying a local SIM card for Buenos Aires?

We had extremely cheap voice options in HKG last week, mobile broadband was not too cheap (NZ$36 for a week) but bearable. The CSL/One2Free SIM card worked fine with Telecom's T-stick but didn't seem to work with the Vodafone Vodem stick. Also worked fine in my HTC Desire Android phone, didn't get around to try tethering the phone as a PC modem though.

For some unknown reason, my Vodafone 021 pre-paid SIM card couldn't roam in Macau even though I did ask about where I was trying to roam at a Vodafone shop in NZ before I left the country, they didn't mention that it was roam-able there. So hopefully, it will roam in Argentina.

I mean they didn't mention that it was 'NOT' roam-able there .

Anyhow, did a bit of googling about the Local SIM in Argentina, looks like the most well known options are MoviStar and Personal, but there were conflicting information about the cost and charges .

Would be great to get some advice from someone who has already been over there and know of the best options?
