2010-06-28 06:36:00 | I am looking to build a pc under $1000 with a monitor. I would also like to know how well it would run newish games. Any ideas would be great.

2010-06-28 06:44:00 | How new is newish? What kind of specs are you looking for? On a budget, I think an i3 or an amd build would be pretty much your best options. Unfortunately factoring in the cost of windows and all the peripherals, you're likely to go a fair bit over $1000 if you're after any decent level of performance. Your best bet will be to save your cash, up your budget, even if only by a few hundred dollars, and you'll get something much more worth your time. What's your current setup like anyway?

2010-06-28 06:49:00 | Well I was thinking of games like Mass Effect 2. At current I haven't got my own, using my parents computer which isn't brilliant... Oh and I was talking about $1000 not including windows and I can probably find some old mouse/keyboard/speakers in our garage.

Add about $350 for a 24" LCD and your at about $1200 Intel CPU: $125 . 00 Intel Pentium Dual Core E6500 2 . 93GHz 1066MHz LGA775 Mobo: $105 . 00 ASUS P5G41T-M LE Intel DDR3 LGA775 VGA & DVI ( & HDMI?) mATX RAM: $95 . 00 Corsair 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3-1333 CL9 Case: $125 . 00 Cooler Master Elite Mid Tower ATX Case with 420W PSU DVD: $49 . 00 Samsung/Asus/LG/LiteOn 22X SATA Dual Layer DVDRW HDD: $87 . 00 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 . 12 16MB Cache GFX: $269 . 00 ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 AMD CPU: $95 . 00 AMD Athlon II X2 245 2 . 9GHz 2MB Cache Dual Core Mobo: $125 . 00 MSI 760GM-E51 AMD 760G Socket AM3 DDR3 HDMI/DVI mATX RAM: $95 . 00 Corsair 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3-1333 CL9 Case: $125 . 00 Cooler Master Elite Mid Tower ATX Case with 420W PSU DVD: $49 . 00 Samsung/Asus/LG/LiteOn 22X SATA Dual Layer DVDRW HDD: $87 . 00 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 . 12 16MB Cache GFX: $269 . 00 ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 |

2010-06-28 09:40:00 | i3 530 2.93 ghz - about 190 pricespy.co.nz cm 600 w/ psu - 150-180 pricespy.co.nz radeon 5750 - about $250 pricespy.co.nz Gbyte ud3 mobo - about $230 pricespy.co.nz seagate barracuda 1tb sata2 - about 110-120 pricespy.co.nz 2x2gb kingston value ram - about 180 - pricespy.co.nz viewsonic vx2433 24" monitor - about 300-350 pricespy.co.nz Taking the prices for each as max, that comes to an exact $1500. You could cut a few corners here and there. but that would give you a decent setup, a nice big monitor, decent graphics card for a fair few games, and room for expansion. My setup's pretty much exactly that, as you can see from my sig. Oh and edit - my pc (box only) I built for 1400 exactly. If you go into once store, ask them to do you a bundle deal, particularly since you're buying a full pc.
