2010-06-27 05:19:00 | Hi guys, I am trying to boot linux from a live CD on my Vaio - VPCEB15FG but I am having some problems. I have looked on the internet for some answers but am having a little trouble. Here is what I have tried so far. 1) Try the disk in another computer to ensure the .ISO is burned correctly - ISO Bootable 2) Attempted to change the BIOS to select boot from CD as first priority The disk worked correctly in another computer so it is not a media issue. Also once changed the BIOS it still would not work. Can someone please help me with this issue :) Thanks

2010-06-27 05:32:00 | You shouldnt have to make it bootable. The ISO is bootable already. All you have to do is burn it to a CDR. The bottom (www.magiciso.com) is all you have to do | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-06-27 05:35:00 | It works fine on another computer though, it is just that the Vaio won't boot from CD at start up | w000t (11562) | |
2010-06-27 05:38:00 | Well the other PC probably has something the Vaio doesnt have. But thats all you have to do, burn it. Did you press a key when it says to press a key?? Otherwise it'll boot into windows, if something is on the hdd | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-06-27 06:28:00 | When you fire up the Vaio look for a message that says boot menu, it will tell you what key to press, that will bring up all the drives, arrow up or down till you select the optical drive. Select it -- should boot. Had that happen on a PC the other day even though the first boot device was the optical drive still wopuldn't boot from a CD untill it was told to Via the boot menu - Its key was F12

2010-06-27 08:44:00 | Pressing F12 brings up the boot menu but it only displays my current OS - Windows 7. F2 Brings up BIOS , F10 - Recovery, F12 Boot Menu. Im thinking I may have to burn the disk again? Any recommended software to ensure it works?

2010-06-27 09:22:00 | For burning ISO files I use Active @ ISO burner (www.ntfs.com) -- Easy to use -- download, install it. One way -- go to the ISO file, with a blank CD/DVD in the drive, right click the ISO file, Burn ISO file -- it does the rest. Other Way, with a blank CD/DVD in the drive first , double click the ISO file, click Burn.
