If it's cheap,is it safe.
I mean if you need the company, will they pay?

823313 2009-10-23 00:28:00 I haven't had flight insurance specifically, but have had travel insurance via a corporate plan. Fortunately I haven't had to make any claims so don't know if they're any good. somebody (208)

Do you mean travel insurance ? If so, then Southern Cross (which is mostly health of course) is known to be a good choice.

823315 2009-10-23 00:34:00 Yeah Misty, I did a bit of Googling the other nite but there's quite a few disgruntled people that had Southern Cross, had problems. I also thought the AA's looks good, if expensive and then there's a lot of fly-by-nighters that nobody has heard of before.

823316 2009-10-23 02:05:00 Southern Cross probably provides the most affordable, but prepare for a scrap if you claim.

Mine did settle but it took months. The other thing is they don’t have any overseas agents, so everything gets processed back here.

However, Insurance Companies are all the same when it comes to settling a claim now aren’t they.

Don’t forget to read the fine print with the exclusions and excesses. ;) They give themselves plenty of "Outs".

823317 2009-10-23 03:04:00 Last time I flew, the agent sold me Mike Henry cover - they do a lot of travel insurance in NZ. Don't know what they're like on a claim however. seltsam (13470)
823318 2009-10-23 03:43:00 Hell, don't BUY travel insurance. Pay for your travel with a credit card - most CC companies incorporate insurance as part of the use of the card to pay for part or all of your travel on the card. It's good cover too. johcar (6283)
823319 2009-10-23 05:06:00 Earlier this year I travelled to Aus and had insurance with Southern Cross. When I returned I was unwell and had to miss my onward flight to Napier while I stayed at my sister's place.

I tried to claim the modest cost of the missed flight, but nope - it was refused because, as they said, the policy only covered travel outside NZ, even though my policy covered all the days I was away. So they charged me for 2 extra days for no reason. Rip off bastards.
