| 1115315 | 2010-07-02 03:49:00 | I have some word documents that start with ~$ ~$drone for possums.doc They aren't temp files as they don't end with .tmp They can't be opened in Word When opening in Word pad the have a line of squares... Is this data lost? |

| 1115316 | 2010-07-02 06:33:00 | Files created as recovery backup in case you crash out of Word. Especially if you have set Word to save every 5 minutes, for example. If you reopen Word after a crash you will be asked if you want to salvage/recover a file. However, if Word hasn't offered the option to recover and you haven't got the original still open, you could try renaming to get rid of the $ in the name. It's the "$" that Word sees as "do not open this file". And whatever you do, don't open and then SAVE in Wordpad or any other application. |
