| 1115146 | 2010-07-01 22:48:00 | boots to safe mode: operates fine That can indicate damaged drivers, or corrupted system files /programs. Starting in safe mode stops lots of drivers/programs from starting. Safe mode only loads in the basic drivers to boot the PC - diagnostic / Repair mode Wipe drive - Reinstall it. |

| 1115148 | 2010-07-02 03:57:00 | followed your suggestion, backed up data & re-formated use the restore CD's installation of Windows started but I couldn't type: no response from the keyboard. mouse was ok power button wouldn't respond to turn off - held for a good minute nothing now the screen is blank but the power button is lit and the hdd is spinning. |

IF the power is not working, its possible there may also be a hardware problem. Just finished a persons PC that did similar, wouldn't power off, strange as it may seem had to replace the HDD, and remove the 56K modem before it decided to play nice. ( this is after 2 failed windows installs from two different XP CD's) |
