| 825441 | 2009-10-30 05:44:00 | I noticed that there is a company giving away ferry tickets for Gulf Harbour. Anyone been there? Anything worth seeing? I used to keep the yacht there - until marina space became available to me in Auckland . To answer your question, Gulf Harbour is a pleasant dormitory location with a seaside influence, but there really isn't much for the casual visitor. The marina has the obligatory coffee shop and bar - but that's it, and unless you're a boatie or need to go to Gulf Harbour, then .... :( But the ferry trip is an equally pleasant ferry trip from Auckland Harbour, around North Head, and along the East Coast Bays to the Whangaparaoa Peninsula - and Gulf Harbour. My recommendation would be take the ferry to Waiheke Island. It's a much more scenic trip, and once you get there, heaps to do and see - and spend your money on. Don't forget if you're a Supergold Card Holder the transport to and on the island won't cost you, either. :clap |
