You would have to laugh about it wouldnt you? (later)

826260 2009-11-02 03:45:00 Coincidentally, I got this in my Inbox this morning....

I assume that what he was not able to save was his car, rather than the cigarette... :D

I had a similar thing with in the work van, it got behind the seat right next to a 20L F2 container. Scared the crap outta me cos Ive set the stuff on fire before and theres no puttin it out :crying

As for smoking while driving, its not distracting. When I'm driving I pay maybe 1% attention to my cigarette and 99% to the usual driving things. I only roll while waiting at intersections. Which was the same with texting. Never even come close to causing damage...probaly cos im not moving.

And if I didnt smoke while driving then I couldnt watch ppl at night swerve around my smoke when I throw it down on the road which makes it explode kinda.

If you were gonna ban smoking in cars you might as well ban having a map onboard, having children or any other dependant passenger, food, radio, hell even adjustable seats.

They're all distracting

So let us see the full story. Did any person die due to the car catching fire?

You also fail to refute my points made earlier.

I also noticed on TV3 tonight a bit about cyclists on Tamaki Drive which made me rethink somewhat.

826262 2009-11-02 09:19:00 You can get fined for smoking too, if a police officer decides to fine you. They can fine you for doing anything in the car, if they consider it a distraction. If you crash and you were smoking at the time, you will probably get charged with dangereous driving, because you were smoking. It should actually be illegal for smokes to be sold anyway. Smokes are the only consumer product, that kills 50% of all people who buy them.
Water is worse ~ 100% of water drinkers die.

Agreed.

When I get asked by Police at times, "Have you been drinking?" I usually reply. "Of course I have been doing that. Without water you will die."

I noted the source at the end of the post - I'm sure if you're interested enough Sweep, you could probably track down the full story .

It was posted in mild jest, not as a refutation . . .

Out of interest, what made you rethink? And what did you rethink, after seeing the 60 Minutes item?

I don't think the cycle couriers did any favours (improving the relationship between cyclists and motorists) for cyclists as a whole - everyone knows they're mad buggers . I think their bit will just reinforce the stereotype . . .

A great way to get a full body search (including "cavity") back at the station - rark up a cop for no good reason (is there any good reason to rark up a cop????) at the end of a long day of dealing with total dickheads (which, unfortunately for them, is their job) . :groan: :groan:

That is one of the few things that annoy me with smokers the deliberate littering that some do, I see in Wanaka they have a local bylaw and an enforcement officer with the power to fine butt litterers its a good thing in my view

I agree. Its a filthy practice. They should just keep the stinking things in their vehicles and empty the trays at their own homes.
