825122 2009-10-29 04:30:00 Texting distracts drivers for longer than reading a sign.

The entire video is FAIL.

your forgetting that you dont have to read the whole text message at once. you could look down for 1 second then look back at the road again and keep on doing that, whereas a street sign on the motorway means once youve gone past it you cant reverse back down the motorway.

Street sign- Queen Street 11 characters
Text message - Cming Hme 8 characters

Faster to read the text than the street sign.

Queen Street is a hell of alot easier to read than that text message. Also, if you cannot see any part of the road while reading the sign in the video, I suggest you either get glasses, or learn to read before you're underneath it.

edit: and Hilarious? Once you're done with that, go stare at a bus stop.

Anyone arguing against the new law on this basis is just plain stupid. Constant distraction even for a second impairs judgment and concentration. Try watching the TV and studying at the same time.

Road signs are also a vital part of the road. Only idiots would compare road signs to texting.

825127 2009-10-29 06:59:00 Sunday is fast approaching and with it comes the end to txting and driving so its only right someone made a hilarious video that shows how silly the txting and driving ban really is }

www.youtube.com

Dude, you made me lose 21 seconds of my life.
It's neither hilarious nor funny.

But I have something to make up for that:
www.youtube.com
Watch that. It's funny.

What's your problem anyway dude? IMO, it's a great thing, too many people live like idiots txting away. IMO, it's come in too late.
Most modern countries had laws against using the phone while driving since the last millenia.
Makes perfect sense to me.

speaking for yourself i hope. txt language and full words are the same to me. i'm not sure how old u are but i think generally grandpa's and the eldery would probably be quicker at reading full words than txts but i think young people would probably read txt slower than full words or the same as full words. For me it's the same.

so whether i'm reading full words or text it's the same to me.

825130 2009-10-29 07:56:00 I'm 19. Friends text me with text language all the time. Some friends' texts are harder to read than others, but generally I find proper, sensible English much easier to read. qazwsxokmijn (102)

I'm 16, and read text language slower than proper English. (I Even Read All Initial Caps Slightly Slower.)
