1115234 2010-07-02 00:36:00 Nothing wrong with ASUS burners. I've got the 20x of that burner. But IDE. Never had any probs with it. Which I'll be changing to SATA next week. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1115235 2010-07-02 00:48:00 that's good, what about LG samsung liteon sony etc do they make good burners? smithinator (15240)
1115236 2010-07-02 00:50:00 they say asus better but i had a lg since 2003 still working no issues, no coasters ever. we also had a creative labelled (goldstar) and that was fine for a good few yrs too, 1995 - 2003 or so .. Nomad (952)
1115237 2010-07-02 00:50:00 sony is not bad i think from what i read, there is also pioneer, they say asus are rebadged pioneers, there might still be plextor these days Nomad (952)
1115238 2010-07-02 00:58:00 i personally like the look of the ASUS one but thought it best to ask about the other brands, so the read/write speeds on the ASUS are good? im not really sure what to look for as i have never brought a DVD drive before smithinator (15240)
1115239 2010-07-02 01:02:00 re: speed, if I create a iso file 4GB for example on my IDE 2003 ish model, i can make a DVD in less than 15 or 10 mins. Nomad (952)

ASUS, Liteon, SOny, all good. Low failure rates. Seen too many LG fail for my liking. Worse is Samsung.

x2 + Pioneer are also good (A lot of Asus drives are just rebranded Pioneer)
