1114700 2010-06-30 03:54:00 We're planning to virtualise a Win2KSBS server and run it as a VM inside a new server box (with WinServer2008). This way, we don't need to re-configure everything from scratch.

The question is ...

Can the existing clients (all XP-Pro) access the Win2KSBS hosted within the new WinServer 2008 box without having to re-purchase CALs?

1114701 2010-06-30 04:43:00 it should be fairly seamless for the clients. Deimos (5715)
1114702 2010-06-30 21:45:00 Should be okay, though if the SBS is OEM, you will need to re-activate, and not sure what thats will do re: CALS....however as 2000 doesnt have volume shadow copy, its probably best to P2V as a cold clone. SolMiester (139)

Are the XP Pro machines connected to the SBS Domain also accessing stuff on the 2008 box as well?

Is the 2008 box domain joined?
