2010-07-03 09:45:00 | I have just installed Skype and have made my first few video calls Skype to Skype.I have only a 1 Gb broadband plan, and although I understand Skype calls such as these are free,my data usage seems to have skyrocketed.Could someone with more knowledge than me,tell me if these type of calls do in fact use up your data. | as38camp (15866) | |

2010-07-03 10:28:00 | Thanks for confirming my fears Trev.So why does the Skype download site say that your voice and video calls are free? | as38camp (15866) | |
2010-07-03 10:33:00 | That doesnt mean its free through your ISP | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-07-03 10:37:00 | Thanks for confirming my fears Trev.So why does the Skype download site say that your voice and video calls are free? the software itself is 'free' but the when you use the program it uses your data allowance.

2010-07-03 11:32:00 | I read somewhere that skype uses approx 49 MBs per hour. Apart from that, 1GB is not enough for anything much when you consider that MS updates can use that in a week. LL

2010-07-03 11:51:00 | thats why you set ms updates to alert you but not download until your ready. havent installed any windows updates yet, i put xp on this like 2 months ago. i really need to download them | goodiesguy (15316) | |
