827421 2009-11-05 10:36:00 Linux by a mile. I use Windows only when I can't avoid it, for one of the following:

Several Windows-only applications I need at work, one of which requires ActiveX.
.NET programming targeted at Windows clients.
iTunes - &%@**&#@^ iPod touch requires it to sync & backup. This happens once or twice a month at the most.
FL Studio - it runs on Linux (under Wine), but has several problems too severe to ignore. For everything else, there's Gentoo, which I install on nearly everything I can get my hands on  (or occasionally Debian if I'm in a hurry and / or somebody else is responsible for maintaining it.)

827422 2009-11-05 17:17:00 Windows, simply because I can play decent games on it :). davidmmac (4619)
827423 2009-11-05 17:33:00 Windows 7 on my desktop, Vista/Linux Mint 7 dual boot on my laptop. If just surfing the net than i always boot into linux but require windows for games and other programs that I use that doesnt run under linux. ronyville (10611)
827424 2009-11-05 17:47:00 Mainly Windows due t many reasons, one of which is keeping up with what others use so I can help them out, do use some linux but not regularly even to make it my vote gary67 (56)
827425 2009-11-05 19:38:00 Windows Vista on my primary machine but I also support 4 other machines in my household running XP.

Have toyed with Ubuntu on a Virtual PC instance - quite impressed... Tempted, but too attached to my games....

827426 2009-11-05 19:39:00 Windows for me due to gaming also Gobe1 (6290)
827427 2009-11-05 20:09:00 Windows, as it's the O/S I inherited here at work . But having dabbled increasingly in Linux (RHEL), and having just witnessed how incredibly cool DRDB is, I really want to shift the goal posts and get away from Micro$oft and their licensing .

Erayd's brain should be a repository so I can apt-get install mad-linux-skillz . :D

One day I'll get around to setting up a box at home . . . . :dogeye:

827428 2009-11-05 20:11:00 Windows, cos they are universal and have lots of software, but I have never looked at Linux, but it has no future as it has a lower user base even tho its free and has been available for years. Digby (677)
827429 2009-11-05 20:12:00 "Prefer" for what purpose? I use different OSes for various things (one size doesn't fit all) - sometimes Windows is the preferable choice, sometimes its Linux. somebody (208)
