| 1115899 | 2010-07-05 00:35:00 | Having problems with my old D-Link (yeah I know, but it was free with the sign-up years ago) and need to upgrade. Had the Tech out to check the lines etc and he recommended Linksys as a good option. Can anyone tell me if this one is any good - WRT54GL There was a thread on this forum about different brands but I've been unable to find it. Would appreciate being pointed in the right direction ! Thanks in advance. |

I recently sold two to a customer to link two sites via the built-in IPSEC VPN and they cost over $200 for me to buy from the distributor! |

If you use Ingram they have it at the higher price. If you have a Dove account its basically correct for the price linked. |

I checked Dove & IM about a month ago and the prices they had then for were the same. i.e. more expensive! I see now that Dove's is A LOT cheaper. :( |

| 1115905 | 2010-07-05 10:25:00 | When I purchased my Netcomm NB6Plus4WN router it was cheaper to buy it from Ascent than from Dove. I wonder if Ascent gets a huge bulk buy discount from Dove or they have a better supplier? | Greven (91) | ||
| 1115906 | 2010-07-05 11:48:00 | Do not get Linksys, I had major problems with a 300N router I got, switched to an SMC (about a third of the cost of the Linksys) and it never misses a beat (I think I have powered it off twice in the last 8 months), the linksys I had to restart every few days to get it working again, and no amount of settings changes or firmware upgrades fixed it. Also, the SMC, despite being way cheaper is actually better spec'd, the Linksys was only 100MB/s, the SMC is a full 5 port GB switch! It also has a USB port which you can use for a printer/scanner/hard drive (so you can use it as a sort of NAS box). Anyways, for an all in one I would recommend 3com, although the one I have is only 802.11g, still, it makes a very good ADSL router, and I use the SMC for wireless... |

What is SMC?, is it G or N, like the gigabyte switching |

| 1115908 | 2010-07-05 22:48:00 | Deimos is right, most N-Wireless Routers are shoddy and unreliable, with the exception of the NetComm, Apples Airport devices and Draytek's router line in my experience :) | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
