| 827685 | 2009-11-06 09:29:00 | I downloaded and installed Picture Doctor yesterday - used it a couple of times on some photos that had been supplied to me that are required to be put up on a website I support (Dreamweaver reported that the jpgs were corrupt when I tried to stick them in a page). Picture Doctor seemed to do the trick nicely. Tonight, I went to fix the rest of the photos in the group and found that the desktop icon had gone to a default state and when double-clicked, did not fire up the application. Further investigation shows the EXE was just GONE from C:. Ran the uninstaller, then re-ran the installer (I know the activation wouldn't work again, but at least I thought I would then be able to go to GAOTD and explain my situation...). Zonealarm Security Suite popped up at the end with a Quarantine message: "Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Adload.mim was found in C:\Program Files\PICTURE DOCTOR\PictureDoctor.exe on 6/11/2009 22:10:48" Looking at the GAOTD site, it seems they have been having problems recently with this sort of behaviour, but the contact form page is blank (conspiracy?) - I understand that their Forum is unmonitored. I've used this site many times in the past and got some pretty damn good software, but I think I will start giving it a miss from now. Has anyone else had any similar issues with GAOTD and/or have any ideas how I can contact GAOTD to try to get a pure copy of PD? Not really interested in paying for Picture Doctor - I'm against that in principle, because even though the software does the job, someone with a suspicious mind might think the situation could be seen as unethical - are they doing it on purpose? Get someone hooked on the software, disable it deliberately and then leave them with no other option than to buy it. |
