1116967 2010-07-07 13:12:00 I am interested in what peoples favourite music player in Linux is. I have tried---

VLC
Amarok
XMMS
Exaile
DeaDBeeF
Songbird

I used to be a fan of Amarok but have gone off it. Was quite impressed with DeaDBeeF but I think I might settle on Exaile.

1116968 2010-07-07 13:46:00 I liked the old Amarok with KDE3, but I don't like the new one

I usually just use VLC now

1116971 2010-07-07 20:33:00 Amarok 1.4 is awesome, but has sadly been superseded by 2.x.

Amarok 2 was initially completely useless, although it's got a lot better recently. It's still not quite as good as 1.4 was, but is almost there and is now a very good player in its own right.

I currently use amarok 2 - my preference would be for 1.4, but I don't want to install the large parts of KDE3 that Amarok 1.4 requires just to run a media player (I'm a KDE4 guy these days).

1116972 2010-07-08 00:35:00 I used to love amarok-1.4, but to be honest all music I play now either happens in the car, or straight from my Cellphone via bluetooth to the desktop dock :D Chilling_Silence (9)
1116973 2010-07-08 02:42:00 I use GNOME Rhythmbox (projects.gnome.org). Nothing flash on the screen but it does the job. johnd (85)
1116974 2010-07-08 02:47:00 Any recommendations for gapless FLAC playback? The few I've tried hiccup during track changes (annoying for live concerts). Sirhc (15872)
1116975 2010-07-08 03:38:00 +1 for Gnome Rhythmbox ... as johnd said, it's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Rod J (451)

Yeah that's not too bad, but I like to use VLC on both KDE and Gnome for consistency...
