827888 2009-11-07 06:32:00 The Imams talk and the crowds toss rocks - not small stones and fist-sized rocks - but rocks/boulders as big as they can carry and toss at the miscreant .

On to the Muslim-thing that seems to have so many people up in arms since 9/11 .

Here's an article about a man - now at room temperature and the woman - both of them MAYBE guilty of adultery - MAYBE she was raped - but MAYBE there's some mercy here . They are going to wait for the birth of the baby and then stone the woman . The article doesn't say why there is a twist here and some selective adherance - but according to Levitical Law - the sins of the father are inherited by the sons . Time will tell how this turns out .

Remember that these Muslims hearken back to the Abrahamic Covenant and at that they parallel the edicts of Christianity and Judaism - but only up to a point .

This is why the world cannot fathom the logic that seems cruel but is really the cornerstone of the laws and rules that countries SAY they are adherents to and practicers of - DON'T - when indeed they profess otherwise .

With that in mind - and I admit that this sounds harsh - morality has been the crux of degradation for the annals of mankind and even though "modern" nations and people don't act so "savagely" and are much more humane - but at least in their society you know where you stand - of lie down to die . Mostly assume a horizontal position - a dirt nap if you will .

Islamists in southern Somalia have stoned a man to death for adultery but spared his pregnant girlfriend until she gives birth .

Abas Hussein Abdirahman, 33, was killed in front of a crowd of some 300 people in the port town of Merka .

An official from the al-Shabab group said the woman would be killed after she has had her baby .

Islamist groups run much of southern Somalia, while the UN-backed government only control parts of the capital .

This is the third time Islamists have stoned a person to death for adultery in the past year .

Al-Shabab official Sheikh Suldan Aala Mohamed said Mr Abdirahman had confessed to adultery before an Islamic court .

Al-Shabab fighters
They [al-Shabab] are forcing women to wear very heavy clothes, saying they want them to properly cover their bodies but we know they have economic interests behind - they sell these kinds of clothes and want to force people to buy them
President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed

"He was screaming and blood was pouring from his head during the stoning . After seven minutes he stopped moving," an eyewitness told the BBC .

The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan in Mogadishu says that if the woman is also killed, her baby would be given to relatives to look after .

Meanwhile, President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has accused al-Shabab of spoiling the image of Islam by killing people and harassing women .

"Their actions have nothing to do with Islam," said the moderate Islamist during a ceremony at which he nominated a new administration for the capital, Mogadishu .

"They are forcing women to wear very heavy clothes, saying they want them to properly cover their bodies but we know they have economic interests behind - they sell these kinds of clothes and want to force people to buy them . "

Last month, two men were stoned to death in the same town after being accused of spying .

A 13-year-old girl was stoned to death for adultery in the southern town of Kismayo last year .

Human rights groups said she had been raped .

Another man has also been punished in this way in the Lower Shabelle region .

Mr Sharif, a former rebel leader, was sworn in as president after UN-brokered peace talks in January .

Although he says he also wants to implement Sharia, al-Shabab says his version of Islamic law would be too lenient .

The country has not had a functioning national government for 18 years .

I know this sounds long winded, but the very same problems in Iraq and Iran were happening a bunch of years ago when the Kingston Trio sang the song: "The Merry Minuet" below: (it was actually written in 1959)

They're rioting in Africa .
They're starving in Spain .
There's hurricanes in Florida, and Texas needs rain .

The whole world is festering with unhappy souls .
The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles .
Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch .

And I don't like anybody very much!

But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud, for man's been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud .

And we know for certain that some lovely day, someone will set the spark off . . . and we will all be blown away .

They're rioting in Africa . There's strife in Iran . What nature doesn't do to us . . . will be done by our fellow man .

Same-o, same-o .

827893 2009-11-07 23:37:00 It must be a rock thing they also throw rocks at people who have tanks, artillery, gun boats, F16s, helicopter gunships and automatic weapons.
Some would consider them stupid but I would use the term brave.
Some people think its ok to kill/stone a missus who has left them and is shacked up with another man as well.
We should respect other peoples customs.
