827849 2009-11-06 23:44:00 I recently purchased a Morrison weedeater. It works very well but I have two questions:

Is it true that the 2 stroke fuel should not be kept for more than two weeks to prevent the carb from becoming fouled? If it cannot be stored for a long time, what to do with the unused fuel (petrol + oil mix)?

To lengthen the nylon cord cutters, instructions say that the weedeater head should be thumped on a hard surface while it is spinning. This works sometimes, not always, so is there some sort of trick to this procedure? It is a pain to take the head apart to lengthen the cords.

827851 2009-11-07 00:30:00 Or buy a Lil Juey. Do a search of PF1 for a previous thread, and look at their website.

I keep my fuel mix for months. I use only Stihl oil at the recommended mix. Never had a problem with chainsaw, blower and weed eater. All Stihl.

For reference, here it is: http://www.littljuey.com/

If I get fed up with the standard head I will get one, but the only stockists are listed in Tauranga-Mt Manganui.

827853 2009-11-07 00:53:00 Steve, I'm sure they will supply you from Tauranga. I will definitely be getting one for my new weedeater when the Whangarei summer show starts. They really are the best thing I have ever bought at a show. Richard (739)
827854 2009-11-07 01:23:00 I keep 2 stroke mixture for months at a time even up to a year and have never had a problem, only thing we used to do with out 2 stroke outboards in the UK was run them without the tank connected until empty for storage over winter but the fuel in the cans we just stored until needed gary67 (56)
827855 2009-11-07 02:28:00 Yeah I just make sure I give the 2 stroke mix a big shake before I use it. I'm not sure if the oil and fuel seperates over time, I've just had carbs clogged from dirty 2 stroke fuel before TickTech (15391)

Almost as bad as CISS ink in my printer! If you're looking to create a blockage, the CISS stuff will do it! (sorry, off topic, but I'm still upset at how poor the CISS stuff turned out to be)

Thanks everyone for the comments.

The nylon cord would not pull out at all so I took the head apart and found this: See attached jpeg below.

With the overlapping nylon cord, there is no way it could be released. It took me awhile with a screwdriver to pry the cord apart. I cannot see that it would ever be totally free so no wonder "Lil Juey" was invented.
