829239 2009-11-12 21:18:00 All this fuss about a car.
Face it chaps:-
A car is tin box you sit in and it goes to where you want to get.
Fini.
Who the hell cares what it is as long as it is reliable - cheap to run and preferably electric (we will have to wait a while for that!), so for the moment a Toyota Corolla seems the best bet - which I have.
Just wish it was easier to get in and out like my old Lada was, in other words higher built.

True - but so have I - in fact I seem to have lost a couple of inches (remember them?).
But its still difficult getting in and out of modern cars.
I think longingly of Granddad's Lanchester or my 1932 Singer saloon. Cars with comfort and dignity. The odd thing is despite all the claims of fuel savings, fuel injection etc we could quite easily get between 36 - 40mpg which seems to be about all the modern device seems capable of.

Hmm... I've achieved over 50mpg in a newish nissan sunny while still getting from the North Shore to wellington in 7 hours. Like to see that in a Lanchester.
