829217 2009-11-11 23:58:00 Too flashy in a cheap plastic/ABS way.

Plastic maybe - cheap no.

Japanese design philosophy is geared towards power:weight, not form over function.

Japanese motorcycles vs Harley Davidsons are a case-in-point

The new GTR can hardly be called a car. It's more like a design and engineering miracle/masterpiece that just happens to go 300kph and put people's necks out with the insane g it pulls when cornering. Awesome car. :banana

829219 2009-11-12 00:02:00 I'd just upgrade my current RAV4 with one of these:-

The one I have now does everything I want anyway but it would be great to have a new one.

The words: "Motorcycle" and "Hardly Ableson" do NOT go together . Those slug bikes are the absolute worst piece of fecal matter on the road and they only feed on the glory of days long past/passed .

It took the Japanese to teach HD how to build an engine that did NOT lubricate the highway .

Give me a Kawi or a Suzuki any day . I am not very impressed with Honda either although I am still amazed at their old OW-engine .

No convair thats a Riley Kestrel look at the badge the Wolsleley has a light in the grill..
I was never peased in the old days with Hondas camshafts seizing in the head (no bearings) and exiting the bike over the handlebars as it it went from 60 mph to zero in 2 seconds.
I had a Z1 the cams run in soft shells like big end bearings.
Funny old thing my Mum had a Honda Shitty and it seized its camshaft on the Lewis Pass.

829223 2009-11-12 00:24:00 if i were to buy the car it would be a Toyota 2000GT

if i were to build the car - id build something that would make people question my sanity

id take the 1992 telstar i used to learn to drive in - and relocate the miserable excuse for an engine and gearbox as a doorstop

completley gut the car and rebuild the chassis and floor to accept a RWD drivetrain and put in the much more fun Mazda FE-DOHC thats been made evil by boring it to 2.2L putting in a set of angry cams and doing the internal work to support a SC14 Supercharger

obviously the whole car running gear wise would have to get turfed for much better kit and the end result when done right would be friggin fantastic but it would still be cheaper all up than to buy a 2000GT these days i would think :p
