829149 2009-11-12 03:09:00 woohoo.....I just received $300 AUD worth of fines in the mail from my last trip to Aussie.

Damn toll gates, and Damn Hertz, I won't be using those miserable bastards again.

829151 2009-11-12 03:18:00 Speeding were we Metla - :p Thats one thing I noticed while driving, if you did the speed limit you were just about passing every thing, most of the time when in a 60k area, every one was doing around 50-55.

90k area - 80-85.

100 & 110k area 95-100.

I was warned the speed limit is very strict and murder for fines and they enforce them.

Not like here in NZ, do 100 k in a 100k area and you are the slowest thing on the road

Tolls - only around $5

No speeding, Failure to pay tolls, Each "offense" had a $33 surcharge added on by Hertz.

Only went through tolls twice, once there, once back =

829154 2009-11-12 04:53:00 Answer = me.

I returned today after 8 days in Melbourne and left behind AU$90 and a bottle of vodka in the apartment I rented.

The cash was left on the lounge table and the booze in the kitchen. This is what happens when you have to get a shuttle bus to the airport at 5:00 AM.

I almost left my rail pass behind in Japan once. :p

I put it down to get something from the shop, and forgot to pick it up on my way out. Luckily the nice Japanese lady spotted it quickly and gave it back to me (I hadn't gone far).

Sheesh, 90 bucks and bottle of vodka buys a good time! :)
