We used to break the journey in Murchison for the night, and then go on to ChaCha on Sat am . We stayed in the riverside camping ground in a basic cabin for the night for a small charge - you know, the kind of cabin that used to be in working men's camps and railway settlements . I just looked it up, and they seem to have gone a bit up-market since those days (early 1990s) - http://www . kiwipark . co . nz/ It is a nice environment . I tried to stay there last year, but everyone and their kayak was there for some tournament and had booked the place out . |
