1118243 2010-07-12 09:59:00 Appear to have had a disk failure in one of my PCs. I have removed the disk and put it in an USB enclosure and can see all the partitions. One is shown as NTFS and I can see the folders in it but the others are shown as "RAW".

Any clues as to how I can recover anything from these?

Thanks.

1118244 2010-07-12 10:02:00 That means it is pretty far gone. Try booting off a Ubuntu live CD - sometimes I have more luck reading bad drives in Linux. Greven (91)

Too much watching "Generation Kill" and not enough concentrating on the PC.

1118246 2010-07-12 10:11:00 Just because a Drive is showing as RAW doesn't always mean its stuffed. Usually means its lost the windows formatting for some reason. Most of the time you can recover the data, or fix the fault.

That link posted, basically covers the nuts and bolts of it.

1118247 2010-07-12 10:14:00 Yup.
Testdisk is an excellent tool for the job.

1118248 2010-07-14 10:33:00 Unfortunately, this didn't work.

Testdisk only sees the primary partition and not the logical drives.

Any other suggestions ?

1118249 2010-07-14 11:47:00 How important is the data -- Meaning are you willing to pay for it -- Try getData Back (www.runtime.org) -- the trial allows you to scan the drive and show what it will recover -- if it can recover back what you want to recover cough over the $$ to unlock it.

The software is good -- Just recovered from a customers drive that was formatted 5402 photos they forgot to back up - 29GB DUH!
