2010-07-11 00:19:00 | hi, i was doing more research after i posted my first thread about buying a new card and now i cant decide on what GPU to get, my options are: the 5770 any brand, they are all in price range the 5830 this is the cheapest i could find it includes shipping and looks awesome :) plus a free game www.computerlounge.co.nz and finally the 5850 this card would be pushing my budget to the absolute max and i am wondering if the performance boost is worth the price rise from the 5830, this also comes with a free game and includes shipping www.computerlounge.co.nz i am due for a monitor upgrade which will be the next thing i do, i would like to get a 22"-24" monitor with 1920x1200 res or over. i will be playing a lot of games including crisis, call of duty (plus all of the other main shooters) I will also be going off to uni next year and need a graphics card that will still serve me well in the future, as i will have no money to upgrade, but like i said my budget is very limiting at the moment. let me know what you think, any advice is appreciated. Edit: my system as of now is: 750w corsair PSU core i7 860 2.8GHZ gigabyte ud4p motherboard 4gb dominator ram windows 7 and finally my faithful 7800gt i am also getting a PROLIMATECH MEGAHALEM CPU fan early next year for possible overclocking.

2010-07-11 01:01:00 | this is just an educated guess but around 4 to 5 years depending, i know this is a huge amount of time to not upgrade in the computer world but spare cash for upgrades is not going to be available till i leave uni | smithinator (15240) | |
2010-07-11 01:11:00 | Probably be OK for that length of time or until a new game comes out whichever comes first. :-) | Snorkbox (15764) | |
2010-07-11 01:13:00 | new game probably, so this will play most games at 1920x1200 on high settings? | smithinator (15240) | |
2010-07-11 01:16:00 | Yep. Although by the time you have made a decision there will probably be something better out there. :devil

2010-07-11 04:00:00 | GTX 460 will be released in a matter of hours, although it's already on Newegg: www.newegg.com Perfomance expected to be between 5830 and 5850. Looks to be a good card, depending on what it retails for here. I plan to get one :):)
