829942 2009-11-14 01:44:00 I'm leaving to visit my son and his wife/kids for up to two weeks or so .

The weather's holding me up a little - blanked-out blizzard conditions in Idaho and parts of Montana - so I'll leave Sunday AM . I'm driving the whole trip - first to Salt Lake City, Utah to drop my wife off and then I go the rest of the 1300 miles/2092KM .

See youse guys when I get back as I won't likely have a puter with me .

I should be back on about the 23rd to the 27th or so .

829947 2009-11-14 03:35:00 Whos weather is back to front now? We're fairly snow free at the moment.
That is a fairly serious amount of travel, glad it's not me. Have a safe journey.

829948 2009-11-14 03:54:00 One of my ex bosses in marketing from International Paper (which once owned Carter Holt Harvey in NZ), was from Montana. He told me that their main city and districts was almost as half the size as the North Island in NZ. Is that true? kahawai chaser (3545)
829949 2009-11-14 04:13:00 It's a big place OK - it covers 147,046 sq mi (380,849 sq km) SurferJoe46 (51)
829950 2009-11-14 18:19:00 I was in Montana in the late '90's . Our son was working, as an exchangee, on a grain farm in Alberta and when he got some time off we went into the States .

It is definitely a "ranchers" state . As was apparent our first night there, at Shelby . The diner was full of cowboy types - the real thing, when their clothes are worn and grubby, you know they're genuine .

I remember Helena, the capital, as having the feel of not being particularly large; we bought some cowboy gear there, so we'd look the part at the Calgary Stampede .

Stayed a night at Great Falls and went to the Charlie Russell museum, very interesting .
