830391 2009-11-16 03:34:00 L2 Media = LOL!

Wow, NCEA is worse than I thought. Media, jesus...

830392 2009-11-16 03:38:00 Making a music video is fun though :D

6 credits for making it and 3 credits for using technology = an easy 9 credits, if you do the paperwork properly.

830393 2009-11-16 05:06:00 Well, I'm Year 11 doing Ncea.
I don't see how people fail it, half the time they are pretty much giving the credits away. But, Half my class did manage to fail all the simple L2 Computing stuff.

LOL I got first in year for computing... passed all the L1 stuff and L2 stuff. Out of interest what stuff did you do this year?

We did programming (L1 & L2), basic theory stuff (backups and data security), then we did some graphic design, we did a game maker project which was worth 6 credits (I got excellance of course) then we finished up with L1 and L2 spreadsheets.

We did other stuff but I can't remember it lol.

Was a really easy year and I am going straight up to L3 computing next year and skipping L2.

And when you say how easy it is to pass L1 your not bloody joking. In some subjects such and land skills and outdoor pursuits you can get credits for hammering in a fence post!

How many papers? I had four - Trig, Calculus, Graphs and Co-ordinate Geometry. All of them are much easier and quicker on a graphics calculator.

And I had 6 papers!!!! Trig Equations, Calculus, Graphs, Co-ordinate Geometry, Sequences and Series and Algebra!

And yea a graphics calculator can only get you so far! Its no help for getting the equation of a graph! But its brilliant for solving algebraic equations!

830395 2009-11-16 05:38:00 Level 2 English.... brings back the memory when I had to fight real hard for the credits. It wasn't easy.

I was doing part-ESOL, part-English in Year 12 back then :p

I managed to pass everything - which was lucky, as I had to to get the National Certificate in Computing. (To get enough credits, I had to pass everything and do an extra standard (2780), as I was only taking one computing subject. The other one was way too easy for me. :p)

It can't always solve them though. (WARNING Level 3 stuff coming up) If you have three planes (a plane has three variables, e.g. x + y + z = 3) which don't intercept at a common point (think triangular prisms) or intercept along a line (e.g. pages of a book), the calculator can't find the answer and you have to do it manually - getting either 0=0 or 0=x, where x isn't 0.

Is it worth getting (the National Certificate in Computing)? I've achieved all the standards required however I haven't really put much thought into applying for the qualification.

Hmmm sounds enjoyable lol. I may have to relearn some stuff.

I only just realised the other day how much I would be screwed if my calculator died in the exam!

Also how do I do/get the national certificate in computing? What is it? And what level (1,2,3 etc) is it at? And is it really worth it?

Oh and I just have to ask...what are you doing when you leave school?

830399 2009-11-16 06:23:00 I might be older as mentioned on the first page of this thread but I'm still studying and have been for about three years one paper a semester as I still work full time gary67 (56)
830400 2009-11-16 06:29:00 An iCalc would not only solve the equation, it would try, convict, and punish the erring terms, then ensure the solution is published before the question is asked in future.

Apple is good that way
