830968 2009-11-17 21:01:00 BTW, what does it say in your policy?

It would be very interesting to know if it says something about proof or evidence there.

Any insurance company that doesn't demand proof would be out of business - they would be a perfect target for insurance fraudsters.

And fraudulent claims only serve to push premiums up for the rest of us. Insurance companies would like us to buy into their PR and believe they're benevolent organizations that exist to give us a cuddle and a cuppa when things go wrong, but they're beholden to shareholders just like any other company, so they do whatever they can to not pay out unless they have to.

That's what I meant. I don't blindly sign contracts, and expect one thing or another.
If Greg did so, he shame on him. Either way, I'd like to know if it does.

830973 2009-11-17 21:50:00 Too right.

Greg, do you remember the Europeans guys who claimed they had their laptops stolen and were caught at the airport wit theirs stuff?Nope. But interesting you should say that... My policy recommends that unless it's an emergency I should only report the loss once I return home.

But anyway - in my case I went out of my way to report the damage while I was away but couldn't get through to their so called international free phone without paying for an International (expensive) call.

And besides, I offered to send them the damaged item.

Too bad too sad. I'll see if I can claim for it on our household insurance. Unlikely to succeed of course.

[Edit] anyone suggesting that I was trying to make a fraudulent claim... meet me in a dark alley.

830974 2009-11-17 21:56:00 Greg stop embarassing yourself, the insurance company states clearly what you gotta do, if you cant do that then thats your problem, sucks i know but hardly worth the meltdown you appear to be having.

I thought you were loaded up with cash now anyway?

Never suggested that, and I'm sorry if it sounded like that.
