| 830595 | 2009-11-16 07:42:00 | as I have said before... in this case the police had little choice but to charge the man, they have no freedom to interpret the law, they can only enforce what's written. most of the time when people say, "the law is an ass"... its most often the judge that's the ass. a Judge needs to have the balls and the brains to JUDGE the law. |

Now the place is infested I just love playing devils advocat.....if that is the phrase...so now you know why our friend Hone is so worked up about his country being so infested by us whiteys :) X2. I might have only been born near the end of the 60's but I knew from a very early age that I was leaving, don't ask me how I knew because I don't know, but then again why do some people want to be pilots when they are a kid and go make it happen? They like me just know Luck me, I was born in the 1930s, and knew England when it was substantially still England..... when we had bands like Ambrose, Jack Payne, Jack Hylton, the BBC played Palm Court Orchestra...and ..Everything Stopped For Tea (www.petefaint.co.uk) |

Animals don't care if they're species are different colours. I wonder why humans do I think we're on a slippery slope to oblivion here:eek: |

This is the country where it is forbidden in schools to teach children the Christmas nativity story because Muslims MAY find it offensive. The same country where the Queen is the head of the church of England. This is the country where an English school girl objected to being the only British child teamed up for a school project with a group of immigrant children, none of whom could speak english, and was prosecuted under the race relations act. One only hopes in this "firearm" possession case that some sufficiently senior politicians and the media make sufficient fuss to have this man's conviction quashed. Can you explain the relevance of youranecdotes to the shotgun story. Perhaps you could also cite the sources of them too. I suspect that at least two of them are complete bollocks. Do you really believe a schoolgirl could or would be prosecuted under the race relations act? Martynz |

| 830600 | 2009-11-16 11:20:00 | It is a simple case of political correctness going to far, legislators not thinking their legislation through properly, and applying draconian penalties for trivalities, or in some cases not just allowing a common sense interpretation of the law. All these examples, along with this firearms "offence" fly in the face of reason, and should not happen. I would suggest one does not have to look at NZ Law all that hard to find similar absurdities. The difference being I think Kiwis would stand up and let their rulers know that they don't accept it - or I would like to think so. The schoolgirl prosecution was reported in the Australian some two months ago as a specific example of UK political correctness gone mad. The not teaching nativity in state schools was a directive from the Ministry of Education - it was related to me by a friend who is a headmaster of a Yorshire Primary School in Hackley. The story covering the objection to flying the Union Jack came from a that excellent newspaper - "The Daily Telegraph" - pity NZ does not have a Newspaper of that quality or stature. For another nonsense example of Political correctness- Peter Jackson is remaking the Film the Dam Busters - Wing Commander Guy Gibson's Dog was named Nigger - The Dogs name was the code word to signify the success of the raid. Nigger was buried outside Guy Gibson's office at RAF Scampton - all good historical facts. For the remake - the dog is being renamed - to avoid offence - Political Correctness B*llsh*t |

For instance Under the Copyright Act, DVD pirates can face penalties of up to five years imprisonment or fines of up to $10,000 for every infringing copy to which the offence relates, but not exceeding $150,000 in respect of the same transaction. Under the Crimes Act, offenders can face maximum imprisonment of up to 7 years depending on the value of the property stolen. From here www.simpsongrierson.com |

| 830602 | 2009-11-16 12:04:00 | I'm not advocating movie or music copying, but this is insane (besides, piracy is usually practiced with deadly weapons and sea-going vessels, committing kidnapping/murder for monetary gain, not copying pieces of plastic). | feersumendjinn (64) | ||
