1117740 2010-07-11 05:57:00 Why not, might as well make the most of Big Time while it lasts, downloading all 3 for now, and will let you know how I get on.

Dead Steel = 388MB
Guardians of Eldvery = 405MB
No More Gentleman = 500MB
As mentioned that should ideally be on your website, or your promotional post ;)

It's also worth you providing some sort of "feedback" list of the things you most want, or an idea of what you want people to test, such as:
The world, can you go places you wouldn't expect to be able to?
Does something just not "feel" right?
Can you make the game crash? Can you reproduce it?
Can you make the AI do something it shouldn't be?
etc etc

1117741 2010-07-11 05:58:00 You were lucky probably because you don't live an obscenely long way away from your exchange

Rubbish, that has nothing to do with it. Even if you're on a 1m/bit connection, it'd only take you an hour to download the largest of the 3.

1117742 2010-07-11 07:37:00 A few things I've noticed before I've even installed the lot and played them:
During installation of Dead Steel, I was prompted to run through DirectX setup. Not a biggy, but I already have WinXP SP3 with the latest DX9. It also installs the PhysX stuff.
Then I go to install Guardians of Eldvery and it prompts me to reinstall some DirectX + XNA stuff, and then it tries to UNINSTALL PhysX, and then "Repair or Uninstall" the Visual C++ 2008 Redist. Not a good first look ;)

1117743 2010-07-11 09:49:00 Here's a thought:
Why not make a check that pulls the files from the internet during install time if they're needed. That way you don't have to waste your time / bandwidth / hdd space bundling all the extra stuff just to make sure it's going to run when 9/10 machines (probably) have it all already ;)

1117744 2010-07-11 10:04:00 I don't even get 1mb/s fastest off peak speed was 675kb/s. I will try download at a friends place, he's a 3D animations developer for some company (can't remember what its called) he'll probably give some good advice The Error Guy (14052)
1117745 2010-07-11 11:19:00 OK so I can't get Guardians of Eldvery & No More Gentleman to load. The first has a black screen on load and doesn't go anywhere. NMG just hangs at the main menu, can't even move the mouse. Bugger.

Dead Steel is fun, and I believe I saw a multiplayer aspect to it? It kind of reminds me of Galaxy Wars meets Unreal Tournament Onslaught-mode (I think that's the right one). It's fun, the controls are easy, the powerups are fun, the music is funky, it's easy to pick up for a few minutes and put down again. I like it, and I could see it being distributed via the likes of Steam for a few bucks a pop :)
Even on Normal mode it wasn't the easiest, but not too tough that I wouldn't keep playing it.
Graphics are pretty decent on my HD4850 at 1680x1050. Not too much flash / bling, just the right amount I thought.

Overall I'm going to give it an 8.5/10, pretty impressed to be honest :)

1117746 2010-07-11 22:09:00 Hello guys,

Thanks for the feedback and thanks sknightly for the promo.
We are students at Media design school working on our final project for the Game Development Course.

This project is 6 Months Long, with 1 month for preproduction and 5 months for production.
The games go gold on Friday!

Yes we are 100% New Zealand made.
Unfortunately release candidate 2 didn't go live on the servers they are being uploaded now. I'll edit this post once they go live.

All in all they are much better version of the games.
Thanks again for the tests!

1117747 2010-07-11 22:16:00 OK so I can't get Guardians of Eldvery & No More Gentleman to load. The first has a black screen on load and doesn't go anywhere. NMG just hangs at the main menu, can't even move the mouse.

Mine didn't install properly but decided to run when I clicked the .exe. Then the menu didn't work, couldn't choose anything, after some time I could. Then I got a no floor glitch going back up the stairs, the gun aims off to the side so I can't shoot anything.

Bit unplayable with Win7 64bit.

His Word file asks various questions about what feedback they want.......

1117748 2010-07-11 22:41:00 Ah there's a word file in there that requests feedback. Good to see.

I actually have no icon for NMG in my start menu, no idea why, so I launched it by going into the Program Files folder and finding the exe manually.

Sometimes when I launch it, it looks like the attached screenshot.

CPU sits around 40% on my 3Ghz Dual-core, so it looks like it's trying to do something, but I'm just not getting anywhere on it :(

Edit: So just after posting, it loads. Took around 2 minutes maybe? No idea why so long, it shouldn't :-/
Game seems like it could be a bit of fun, don't have anybody to test Multiplayer with so I did solo.
Played past Wave1, the first time I died as they mobbed me (I didn't catch them as they were coming in through the windows), but the second time I cleared the wave then ran around for a few minutes just doing nothing, waiting for Wave2. Ran down a hallway and found another smashed window in a small room but no more baddies spawned.
The projectile image never goes the right way, though I can see the "dust" from where it's hit the wall in the correct place.
Also, I've got no idea what the right-mouse button does, but sometimes depending on if you release your right mouse button, then press it again, and you're walking backwards, it'll change the image from his staff (Is that what it is?) to his gun...
The scream before the round starts got me both times, incredibly loud, maybe a little too loud? It hurt my ears to be honest.

It looks like it could be fun, but needs a bit more polish. Will try the second beta's when you've posted them :)

1117749 2010-07-11 22:48:00 Will have a look tonight.

^^ Chill does it only do that in Windowed mode, or in fullscreen as well?
