And if your not specificly involved or far away from the issue. Then why should your opinion matter. There was nothing wrong with the question on the last referendum. Only the left had problems understanding it.. |

BUT - what was it addressing? The S59 amendment just enacts what I said in my early post - it removed the loophole surrounding "disciplining" your kids, just by giving kids the same protection against violence as anyone else. It doesn't say anything about criminalising parents. You'd be quite entitled to take your best mate to court for assault if he flicked you on the ear while mucking around, say. Not that you'd get very far for something that trivial. The same applies to your kids. If there was some real harm done in a "disciplinary" act on a child, it deprives the adult of the traditional defense in these cases if taken to court. |
