:)

Not really Trev, it is always good to hear people's views on other programs that may be of use to readers.

Indeed.
I could say "Even M$'s offerings can be used as an example of what happens when you take your eye off the ball ;)" but I won't. I'll just think it. :banana

830455 2009-11-17 06:32:00 I setup Windows Live Mail in my new Win7 rig, but uninstalled it when I found there was no feasible way to bring in mail from Outlook (which was, ahem...). So I chose Thunderbird because it had a plugin to import from .pst files.

Thunderbird seems okay, but I'm not yet fully convinced. The thing that's preying on my mind is whether I will be able to easily backup emails, and if need be export to a different program sometime in the future. Haven't explored that yet, so have setup Thunderbird to use my ISP email account as IMAP, and have imported all my old emails into a local folder. Working alright for now, and it may grow on me...

830456 2009-11-17 07:40:00 One good thing i did notice about windows live mail is if you reformat you don't have to worry about keeping your e mails you have. Somehow after you have reformatted and set up your e mail account again it downloads all the e mails you have had recently sent to you mine were from as far back as three months. Hitech (9024)

You must of missed something in the installation. It asks you if you want to make Windows Live Mail your default email program. Select yes and it automatically brings your emails across from OE, don't know about Outlook though but I would say it probably dose.
