1118952 2010-07-15 06:30:00 Hey guys, I just threw together a PC on Dell's website and I was wondering how well it would be able to play recent games and what sort of framerates I could expect for, say, Crysis at max settings. It is a Dell XPS Studio 8100 and I will list the specs below:

Processor - Intel Core i7-860 Processor (2.80GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)
Memory - 4GB RAM
Hard Drive - 1TB
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB
Price - $1,985

Thanks in advance, VendettaSteel

1118953 2010-07-15 09:31:00 your graphics card will be a major bottle neck, crysis at max settings, I will say probably 20 - 30 FPS perhaps? powerover (12121)

Try PlayTech or Computer Lounge for prebuilt systems.

I've made a few claims for clients and always found them good, what issues have you had exactly?

In what way? Should I look for a higher end card? The other two options would be a 240 GTS or a 260 GTX.

Thanks, VendettaSteel

I've had great experience with Dell's customer service in the past; owned 2 Dell laptops and whenever I had a problem I called customer service and they always made it quick and easy to fix whatever problem I had :P

1118959 2010-07-15 12:17:00 I just found a YouTube vid of Crysis running at max settings on a pc very similar to the one I put together and it was running at 25-45 FPS (without FRAPs) which seems pretty decent.

1118960 2010-07-15 12:34:00 I would spend a little less on the CPU/motherboard by switching to something like an i5 750 quadcore with a P55 motherboard and use the extra money on a better graphics card. As for your other options on graphics card, a GTX 260 will perform similar to a 5770 wheres a GT240 will be significantly worse. pantera989 (14533)

5770 is not that powerful of a card, it is good for low power consumption tho...

agree with pantera989 there, if you are aiming for just gaming, and not looking too far ahead...

240GTS: don't even try to think about this one if you want to game
260GTX: performs about the same as 5770 but power consumption is higher than 5770
