1118571 2010-07-13 21:46:00 Yesterday I had my computer professionaly cleaned. Fans removed and washed etc. It is now running well and core temps are a few degrees lower.

When I got it back last night I plugged everything in and booted. The boot proceded normaly until the end. Then it stopped and up popped a notice, "cpu fan error. Press f1 to resume."

Pressing f1 finished the boot and everything was as normal. But now every time I boot I get the same message. Nothing appears to be wrong. The cpu fan is definatelt working.

Anyone got any thoughts on, why?

1118575 2010-07-13 21:57:00 They didn't plug a fan into the CPU fan header on the motherboard and the BIOS thinks you don't have a fan for the CPU. You can make the BIOS ignore this fact, look around in the BIOS. qazwsxokmijn (102)

If it's overheating they didn't plug the fan in. But I'd say they plugged the fan into the wrong header on the board - possibly into the Chassis fan header instead.

1118578 2010-07-13 22:42:00 Yeah, fan plugged in to wrong header is most likely. What the hell is a professional computer fan cleaning service? oO inphinity (7274)
