831320 2009-11-18 18:49:00 It is understood the bid is for about $5 million, with TVNZ and TV3 putting up $1 million each . The rest will be met by Maori TV (i . e . our taxes) and the Government (i . e . our taxes) .

Maori TV's share will still include some money from the Ministry of Maori Development, Te Puni Kokiri, (i . e . our taxes) but Mr Key said this would be substantially less than the $3 million it offered when the bid was for exclusive rights .

But then . . .

District health board chiefs are bracing themselves to make deep cuts to their services next year after receiving Government indications their funding will slip .

Health Minister Tony Ryall has widely signalled in speeches that because of the recession, the sector - although in line for an increase in next year's Budget - will receive much less . . . .

Priorities?

Sorry we can't afford your heart surgery .
But we spent your money so you can watch rugby on your deathbed . . . .

831323 2009-11-18 19:19:00 Right..the DHBs are going to have funding cut, yet they put out contracts to the rest homes whose grossly understaffed care givers and nurses are paid peanuts. So when the next rest home scandal crops up who is going to take the blame?

With the current case noone has asked how come the DHB audit carried out as recently as March was OK, but now the place is suddenly substandard. What is the DHB up to? Did they do their properly?
