I suggest - don't let a few persons' opinions and outbursts illuminate the differences that we have as a multi-cultural society.Unfortunately the attitude of Hone is shared by the whole of the Maori Party and I would suggest most of the Maori politicians. |

I don't think you'll find Mr Peters in that lot. He's been talking about getting rid of the Maori seats ect for a long time, and hate him as you may, he is the one who talked about the separatist Maori Party/Maori Seats are doing. The "white man" did a lot of bad things in this world, from the enslavement of Africa to the (attempted) extermination of the Jewish people, forced neutering of people in Africa, America and Europe. But what did not happen was bad things against the Maori. You can kid yourself that something very bad and evil went down, but ti didn't. It was a business proposition. How much long can you have some sort of separatist ideas? If I look about and trace my ancestry back X generations, I will find someone who wronged my family. Everyone butt-raped everyone else. It's a sad fact of life and the world. People like him are what's wrong with the world, everyone in this country is treated equally (hell I'd say the Maori are treated better than the rest of us, but that's my opinion), how has the white man personally raped and pillaged Hone? It's all a load of BS. So let's get over it and ourselves and start living our lives instead of wasting them by whining about who wronged who 200 years ago. |

If I go to pomland they are not going to differentiate me if I come from Southland or Nelson. |

We never did stole their land... they were (still are) just really bad businessmen! You are right though, the Maoris expect the white man to fund this, fund that, pay for this, pay for that. When the whinge and moan that we have more money than then its because we work hard and they are just lazy and expect everything to be given to them. In terms of us raping them and whatnot, I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as what the aborigines had. At least we didn't/dont go maori hunting. |
