831468 2009-11-21 03:28:00 gets out even grimed in dirt. Gets cats pretty clean too.
Even removes those pesky encrustations of cyclists smeared around the driveshafts of your 4wd.

One thing about the scrubbing floor method is when you are that close to it, as opposed to being up high at the other end of a mop, steam or non-steam, is that you get to see how really really filthy the floor actually is.

831469 2010-01-27 04:51:00 Godfreys have an impressive range of steam mops, I was looking at them on the weekend (see here (www.godfreys.co.nz)). The guy instore said the cheaper ones go alright but obviously the more money you spend the better performance you get. Am tempted to get one!

The Bissell one and the Wertheim one both looked pretty good and did have some cool features.

831470 2010-01-27 06:15:00 We had a Bissell, problem with it was it left floor wet,due to the steam not being hot enough I thought. Cicero (40)
831471 2010-01-27 08:00:00 Steam at atmospheric pressure is 100C, which is the temperature of the steam at the mop head. Steam at 121C for example, must be under 1bar (101kPa) pressure to attain this temperature. Therefore you would have to produce the steam in a pressure vessel (rather heavy and not very portable for a steam cleaner) and pipe it to the mop head.

Er... no...what you say is if you are boiling water at pressure to produce steam above 100 C. Have you not heard of superheated steam ? Just pass steam at 100C through an electrically heated coil for example, it need only be above atmospheric pressure by enough to get the flow through the (flow) resistance of the superheater.....just being pedantic, as is my wont :)

The purple one and the pink one one both looked pretty good and did have some cool features.
Cicero's one doesn't need glasses either, and it is real cool. I think he wants a hot stuff model.
