1118336 2010-07-13 10:54:00 Maybe the CPU doesn't support 64 bit?

why would you bother loading a cpu that dosent support 64bit with 7.

1118337 2010-07-13 11:04:00 Because you've got an old PC and cant afford one that supports 64 bit? And the CPU you've got is 32 bit only? Speedy Gonzales (78)

loading a cpu????

older pc's with certain cpu's don't support 64bit OS, others do. most people aren't on the lookout for computers that have cpu's with support for a 64bit OS.

AFAIK, every CPU from 2004\5 with exception of Atom's and some laptop mobile CPU's are x64, however you wouldnt load 7 on anything that old

1118340 2010-07-13 11:13:00 I know MOST do, BUT that depends on how old it is. Even if the CPU supports 64 bit, it doesnt mean you can afford to buy a 64 bit OS to use it (unless its Linux) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1118341 2010-07-13 11:16:00 I would think that anyone who tried to install the 64 bit version on a 32 bit CPU would find Win 7 would simply not install. Snorkbox (15764)

That is what I was alluding to, running new OP SYS on Old shint dont work very well.

Conversly IF you can get ALL the drivers older OP SYStems run much faster on new gear.:D

1118343 2010-07-13 22:52:00 I was asking if the license was linked to architecture.
I know what hardware I'm running on, it supports it fine.
