831520 2009-11-19 18:25:00 Oh, and by the way.. after I told it specifically to not uninstall any other versions, it uninstalled my Outlook 2007. F********* yay for 2010!

You can only have one version of Outlook installed. :) (The installer should have told you that. :p)

831521 2009-11-19 19:53:00 Well I have been running the technical preview for awhile now so I uninstalled that and put the beta on. I think that for home users it is very similar to 2007. It seems that most of the upgrades are targeted at businesses. The web integration with Office is good but I don't think I will ever use it!

Microsoft are following google into cloud computing with the introduction of their online applications.

According to lifehacker quick steps (lifehacker.com) is 2010's killer feature.

I really like the "file" tab. It includes all your options and document information in one place.

Also the introduction of the ribbon into Outlook was always going to happen.

Overall I don't think the jump will be as large as 03 was to 07. But there is a lot of new features for advanced users and businesses.

831523 2009-11-20 00:15:00 Just being able to customise the ribbon is a killer feature for me!

Can you customise it to NOT be a ribbon?

Well you can in Word, Powerpoint and Excel anyway.

831525 2009-11-20 00:45:00 Well, seems more responsive, but appears to be pretty much the same. Nothing really mind blowing about it...

Well that's given me enough of an excuse to try out the beta!

It came up with the previous versions detected, and I stated I wanted to keep it.

Oh dear. Never mind. Reinstalled now. I shall learn to never do that for future reference.

Why would you want to do that? It just takes a little bit of getting used to, and then you're a hell of alot better off using the ribbon than the old structure.

If you really dislike using the ribbon, put your most used commands on the QAT.

I can't see why I should, I am perfectly happy using the old one and know exactly what I'm doing.

For me it would just be "change for the sake of change" as I have no desire or need to use a different style. Even if it is easier to use, that doesn't change the fact that I can very easily use the old style already.

In which case, what's the point?
