1119542 2010-07-16 20:24:00 Hi there guys,

I sort of wanted an ebook reader so i jump on TM and searched for it, came up with this:

*NEW* 7" Android Touchpad Netbook Wi-Fi DDR2 :303663461

what do you guys think of that?

with a battery life of only 2-3 hours??? do you think it will be able to play videos?? any faults that you can pick??

I also came across some black and white screen ebook readers and surprisingly they cost like $350-$400!!! why so much???

I started this thread so I can sort of heard what you guys think, so anything towards this topic is greatly appreciated :D

cheers

1119544 2010-07-16 21:26:00 I am using one of those very devices to answer this post.
Eken M001.
Bought it mainly to use as a eBook Reader.
Taking a while to learn how to drive it, but have pretty much got it sorted now.
You should be able to pick one up for about the same price as the Kobo eReader, which makes them resonable buying when you concider the extra functions they have.

1119550 2010-07-17 01:55:00 I also came across some black and white screen ebook readers and surprisingly they cost like $350-$400!!! why so much???Which one were you looking at? Yes, e-ink readers are expensive (mainly because the display technology isn't cheap; most of that cost pays for the display), but most of them aren't anything close to that price - for example, sony's ones start at $150US (and they're damn good devices).

I have an e-ink reader (have had it for around 2.5 years), and I love the thing - wherever possible, I get the ebook version of things rather than the dead tree one.

1119551 2010-07-17 02:19:00 Looks quite decent. Right now some are going for < $150 (Though still have 7 hours left).

All I can say is that after having got myself a Nexus One and used Android on a Cellphone for ages, that it'd make a great Tablet OS.
Would definitely be better with Android-2.2 (Froyo), due to the speed improvements. Would make the likes of the 600Mhz CPU hum along real nice!
