1119539 2010-07-16 12:20:00 Im on a adsl modem router (does not appear to be adsl2+).
I had a telecom technician here the other day, he mentioned that because i am so close to the phone box thingie down the street (~200m) that i would get significantly higher speeds. at the moment, sometimes i get 6mbps, sometimes 1mbps (down).
I noticed in my b/g modem router options, an option to change the ADSL Mode (currently G.DMT) to other options:
ADSL2
ADSL2+
T1.413
G.lite

Also and option to change the adsl type (currently annex a) to:
Annex I
Annex A/L
Annex M
Annex A/I/J/L/M

My question is, does this mean i can simply change the setting to adsl 2+ instead of buying an "ADSL2+" modem router?

Change your line mode to ADSL2+ Annex A and you should notice a significant increase in speed. If your router then fails to connect, change it back...

You say though that you sometimes connect at only 1Mbit? there could be a fault somewhere if you are that close to a cabinet and are getting speeds that slow.
