2010-07-16 07:12:00 | WHEN does it happen?. Does it show the name of a file / driver? Will it boot into safe mode?? It could be a malicious / corrupt driver / file. I would remove the hdd, and put it in a working system then scan it for malware | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-07-17 08:22:00 | Hello Speedy, It has happened just twice both times on logout (close down). There is no other message except the standard BSOD one telling me to remove programs and that code string I posted.

2010-07-17 08:32:00 | Will it boot into safe mode / safe mode / networking without crashing? Since it only crashes on shutdown? I could check whats in startup (if safe mode works) with teamviewer if you want I would disable system restore, reboot then turn it back on for now

2010-07-17 12:14:00 | boot the Computer normally, click start, type in perf select Performance and Reliability - once open, on the left,Open Reliability Monitor - look on the chart, When it crashed hopefully there is a red circle with a X - Click it, below should list what crashed or caused the BSOD ( or give some clues anyway) | wainuitech (129) | |
2010-07-17 22:02:00 | Thanks wainui "OS stopped working 6.0.6002 Service pack 2" Looks like good old Vista doing its thing. Maybe I won't get too excited about it. What do you think? Just part of doing business with Bill?

2010-07-18 02:14:00 | OS stopped workingMan I love that error -- No bloody kidding :rolleyes: Have a look in the event viewer, click start, type in eventvwr open it, look through the windows logs, esp the system logs, see if they give any more clues as to what may have crashed. Have you tried a Memory test, the memory may have a fault. I would also do a complete scan for any infections, Viruses / Trojans or Malware, with good software, not the crap AVG if you have it. :p
wainuitech (129) | ||
2010-07-18 02:22:00 | Yes, you should get excited about it and, No, it is not normal. This is the basic error for F7:- STOP Error 0x000000F7: DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER STOP error 0xF7 means that a driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. STOP code 0x000000F7 may also display "DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER" on the same STOP message. So, you could have a bad driver or it could be caused by malware. Scan your system with stuff from Speedy's post. Post a Hijack log (see Speedy reply for source). Try disabling startups to see whether you can make the problem go away. If the problem only occurs occasionally, this might be a lengthy process! Good luck.
