While it's nice to win, it's the thought exercise which is the most important aspect. I would be quite happy with either a new team member, or with Sweep covering both first / second speaker. I'm also happy to wait a few days for another affirmative team member if someone would be happy to step forward, provided the other participants in the debate are happy for this to happen. I don't like the last three options Sweep lists at all - in my humble opinion any one of them would substantially cripple the debate. Perhaps next time we do one of these we should organise understudies! I also strongly agree with Sweep's sentiments here - it's somewhat surprising that we don't have more people interested in participating. I know I'm far from the only person on this forum who enjoys a good argument! |

The thought exercise is, in my opinion, the whole point in having a debate in the first place as you then do the research in my opinion. I might add that in the first debate I changed what I really thought after looking at figures and had to defend against what I had previously thought. No matter there though. So far I like the option which allows me to be one against two in the debate but I wait for you to get your other team member to agree. If you and your team member agrees then I will be second speaker and will post some 24 hours after your agreement after you consult with the bogan If you want to wait for another person to get into the debate on the affirmative side then I will continue to wait. |
