| 1119563 | 2010-07-19 00:19:00 | Just a bit more info on the Eken M001 after using it for a while. It works very well as a eBook reader, once you install the appropriate app. The one that comes with it is a bit of a fizzer. Battery life as a reader can be extended quite a bit if you turn off the wireless & dimm the screen a bit. I would estimate 5-6 hrs. I looked into buying an eReader first but they are too expensive for all they do. |

| 1119565 | 2010-07-20 10:22:00 | thanks linw this one here looks pretty good: www.dealextreme.com these android based devices, can they be upgraded? they usually come with android 1.5, can you, say, up grade it to android 1.7 or something??? if yes, how? I really want something a bit more powerful, but kind of slim as well, like the asus Eee pad?? is it even launched in NZ yet? I saw this WePad on line made by a company in Germany and it has a full HD screen!! I guess us in NZ will have to wait a bit... :( thanks heaps guys |

| 1119567 | 2010-07-20 11:10:00 | Apps are installed like all Android devices, from the Android Marketplace. Installation is generally via WiFi, though there are other methods such as over-the-air (3G for Cellphones for example) or manually copying the .apk file to the device. Keep in mind that a 600Mhz ARM-based CPU is still quite powerful. IIRC the 3GS iPhone runs at 600Mhz? |

I guess it means those device can handle 720p HD video like the iphone4?? what about security? as far as I know anyone can just write a android program and have nasty stuff embedded, the put it on the marketplace, am I right? |

| 1119569 | 2010-07-20 23:38:00 | Technically speaking the Android devices could be considered more secure than Apple, because before you install an App it prompts you and shows you what parts of the device it has access to, such as phone calls, things like that. When you say "handle 720p video", do you mean play it back? Or do you mean view it? The iPhone4 screen resolution isn't large enough to view 720p video at it's native resolution anyway.. |

I saw some models on dealextreme which has a hd video output....so i guess they can handle, or say, play back hd videos... i still don't know how to upgrade android to a higher version tho... |

| 1119571 | 2010-07-21 01:41:00 | Android can handle it, but it's dependent upon the hardware to support that kind of resolution or output to a device which does. | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
