Does it inc a firewall? I wouldnt be surprised if ZA or Forcefield is the cause |

2010-07-18 12:43:00 | Looked at the event viewer. Quite a few entries there. A couple that stand out are; Error 16/07/2010 11:06:28 a.m. SharedAccess_NAT 30005 None Warning 16/07/2010 4:39:23 p.m. WLAN-AutoConfig 4001 None Error 16/07/2010 4:41:50 p.m. LanguagePackSetup 1001 Language Pack Setup Wizard functionality Error 17/07/2010 6:55:09 p.m. ResourcePublication 1002 None This stuff doesn't mean anything to me. Hope you guys know what it is.

2010-07-18 12:56:00 | How many wired and wireless computers are there? That first error, looks like it has something to do with a dhcp conflict with 2 or more ip addresses on your network | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2010-07-18 13:15:00 | Probably this (www.zonealarm.com 3.1279454983.1279454983.1&__utmb=231410944.3.10.1279454983&__utmc=231410944&__utmx=-&__utmz=231410944.1279454983.1.1.utmcsr=%28direct%2 9|utmccn=%28direct%29|utmcmd=%28none%29&__utmv=-&__utmk=82114133) I would uninstall it, as it looks like it has a firewall. And its probably conflicting with ZA. If you go to control panel / security under firewall, what does it say here? Zonealarm, forcefield or multiple firewalls?

2010-07-18 13:25:00 | only one firewall running - Zonealarm. Windows firewall is turned off. Don't know that I have downloaded forcefield - looks like it costs money. I am a bit averse to buying theirpay for products when thy offer a free one. Will you look at that ZA now has 2 more entries in programs and features; Zonealarm Zonealarm Toolbar (and this one has a F as its icon)

2010-07-18 13:33:00 | Ah the toolbar will be forcefield? Isnt it more than a toolbar? It looks like it gets installed with ZA. What about the pc's there? How many are wired and wireless?? There's something conflicting on your network I think | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2010-07-20 00:36:00 | OK I have biffed a few things frm startup that I am not using. I removed Zonealarm and have reinstalled it. I still am no closer to knowing what the problem is. I guess I will wait til it crashes again'. Just by the by - Firefox leaves part of itself running sometimes and I have to reboot to open FF if I havbe previously closed it down. What is with that?

2010-07-20 05:53:00 | The Forcefield item is crapware installed at the same time as Zonealarm (unless you spot the check box to untick). Accidentally installed this on a recent ZA upgrade on my wife's XP machine and it caused all kinds of grief. If you can still see Forcefield in a scan, I would recommend uninstalling ZA again and carefully reinstalling it, watching for the checkbox so the toolbar doesn't come back. EDIT: forums.zonelabs.com Yeah - you're probably right Speedy - the Windows Firewall plus MSE is about all you need a the moment on a day to day basis....
