In fact you might be prosecuted for not stopping scum crims unless you where a feeble nana. The only thing I dont like about NZ police is that they are trigger happy once they have a bang stick in their hands they use it without thinking of the consequences. They should never be armed as a norm. Too many innocents would end up getting blasted into eternity. |

Too many innocents would end up getting blasted into eternity. i thought a citizen's arrest can only be carried out at night? i dont agree with the government passing restrospective laws to let people off committing a crime. like if an MP named "ABC" broke a law on Nov 15, and the government passing a law a few weeks later saying "ABC" MP is immune from prosection for breaking that law on Nov 15. If those police all broke the law by legally not being able to make an arrest then they should be charged. If i thought the law allowed make to break into a car and hotwire it and drive it around, and the police caught me and said "your under arrest for stealing a car", would the police let me off if i said "i didn't know it was illegal to break into this car and take it"? It's easy, all the people who were arrested by these unsworn officers have their charges dropped and the cases passed onto a sworn police officer who will re-charge the offenders. those unsworn police officers would be charged with impersonating a police officer etc. |
