833304 2009-11-25 09:31:00 I use Outlook Express in XP

I don't like Outlook, All I want is to send and receive emails, nothing else

As for Thunderbird, I have no reason to want to try it. Unlike IE, OE actually does what it's supposed to do pretty well...

833306 2009-11-25 09:41:00 Yes, I use Thunderbird on Linux and Windows, only issue I've found
is it really, really doesn't play nice with Adobe Premiere Pro project files.
Won't send them, then if you try to open the unsent item the whole application
freezes. This happens on several different machines both Linux and Windows.
So I have to send them with Windows Mail.

833308 2009-12-29 21:51:00 We have been using Thunderbird for the past 1-2 years without any issues. it works great and has great addons. mak2204 (15458)
833309 2009-12-29 21:55:00 Installed TB about 2 weeks ago. Since it supports newsgroups (using Win7). It took at least 1/2 an hr to set a bloody account up lol. Since it kept telling me the smtp info was wrong (it didnt support security or something). It didnt matter what I changed, it kept saying it. So it went in the bin. I may have all day, but I've got better things to do, than stuff around, trying to set up 1 account. So went back to OL. Did the same thing, it was up and running within 10 seconds Speedy Gonzales (78)

833311 2009-12-30 02:44:00 Ive had to rescue about 8-12 peoples mail over the last 6 months when Thunderbird turned turtle and died, completely corrupting.

Same here, we moved all our home stuff onto Thunderbird and it went perfect for many months and then one day just turned turtle, wouldn't reinstall or anything. At the next reformat we again tried Thunderbird and after just a few weeks it again turned turtle.

Luckily everything was backed up.

Never was able to work out the reason for it just turning turtle but very annoying, especially when it happens again, sort of puts you off the product.

We have gone back with Outlook Express for email plus all our work laptops are OE based as well.

In saying that, I know many others that have Thunderbird and swear by it and have never had any issue's with it.

I find that interesting as I have used it for many years with never a problem and I always use the latest (Alphas and betas) and have several accounts.
I quite like the Lightning add on which gives calendaring.

It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that you knew what you were doing with it would it.
