832603 2009-11-23 05:03:00 It does cost less from there if you compare apples as apples but if you do the comparison using the exchange rate i.e $2.44 to the pound or whatever it is at them moment then I think you will find it comes in pretty much the same. If I earn say $21 an hour here I will probably only be earning 14-15 pounds for the same job gary67 (56)

Good ideas, but easier said that done.

The parcel I am working on costs GBP 1 . 68 to post to NZ fast airmail . At the current exchange rate of $ 2 . 77 I think that comes to $ 4 . 65 .

To post the same parcel to the UK (what I need to do) it is $8 . 77 for the fast rate ! !

That is nearly twice the price ! And not only that British wages are much higher than ours, so it will require less of their hourly rate to post my parcel .

So unless I have got my maths wrong (a possibility) then we are being really ripped off . We use the same planes to fly both ways and aviation gas is probably the same all over the world .

832606 2009-11-24 04:43:00 Its more expensive to send stuff to the UK because its up-hill and uses more fuel.
