| 835710 | 2009-12-02 03:44:00 | Talk about weasel words. :mad: He just apologised publicly, but if you understand plain English, and most us WMFs do, with a very careful choice of words, he apologised solely for upsetting his Party, not for what he said. Nor did he express any regret for his WMF words. It's not over yet I fear, watch that space.......... Cheers Billy 8-{) |

In my view it is time for a Referendum (a binding one this time) asking should we abolish the Maori seats. Then we would see the smug look disappear from his and Pita's faces. THAT_IS_MY_DREAM!!!! |

| 835714 | 2009-12-02 09:02:00 | On the tv news tonight Hone said that only those who hold the power (i.e. the majority race, Europeans) can be racist, so therefore he (and by implication all Maori and all ethnic minorities) cannot be racist. Phil Goff gave a good rebuttal to Hone's convenient definition of racism. So what we have here folks is a prominent Maori party MP who went through the motions of apologizing but did not actually do so, and at the same time skirted the issue of racism. WE ALL KNOW what would happen if a European MP used Hone-like language against Maori or any ethnic minority. Hone is smart enough to know that a double standard exists with racism and to ensure that we have this message, he smacks it in our faces. |
