https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

Does anyone know, what if i fly from NZ to England, but the plane stops off at Los Angeles to re-fuel, does this mean I need to register with ESTA because i am in the USA but only because the plane is re-fueling.

835624 2009-12-02 06:36:00 Yes, you are supposed to register with ESTA even if you are only going to be in transit, as far as I know. I registered before I went to the USA in June.
In January 2009 my daughter and son in law went back to England via the USA and had to register with ESTA.

Q: Do nationals or citizens of countries that participate in the VWP require an ESTA if they are only transiting the United States en route to another country?

A: Yes. The United States no longer has a Transit Without Visa program, so eligible nationals or citizens of countries that participate in the VWP require either an ESTA or a visa to transit the United States. If a traveler is only planning to transit through the United States en route to another country, when he or she completes the ESTA application, the traveler should enter the words "In Transit" and his or her final destination location in the address lines under the heading “Address While In The United States”.

835626 2009-12-02 07:25:00 This is the very reason Air New Zealand introduced a new route to London with a stop-over in Vancouver.

Avoid the USA completely !!!

835627 2009-12-02 07:27:00 I believe the Si version of esta is very popular. Especially after trying the Fi version. Ask your travel agent to book you for both.

(But try to avoid acronymonious debates.)

I wanted to enter a competition for the first prize of an all expenses paid trip to New York. But sadly due to poor judgement, about 12 years ago I was stopped at a police checkpoint and busted for being slightly over the booze limit.

This means that if I wanted to go there I'd have to apply for a visa and have an appointment with some government outfit here, both of which would cost. Stuff that for a joke. I've never been to USA, nor ever will.

12 years ago eye? think you would qualify for that to be expunged (justice.org.nz). Although just had a quick look apparently your not supposed to conceal your history when overseas that seems stupid then? But then again how they would find out if your record is clean I'm not sure.
